Prospecting skill for AI agents

The prospecting skill teaches Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and other coding agents to find local businesses with ShowFirst: search, wait for the results, filter them, run campaigns across many places and export CSVs. It is one Markdown file. The agent reads it and then uses the Prospecting API or the MCP server.

The skill tells the agent to show you the lead credits a search will hold and to wait for your yes before it starts anything.

Before you start

Make an API key: open API Keys in your dashboard, type a name in the Key label box, and click + Create New Key. Put it in an environment variable where your agent runs:

Claude Code

Save the skill into your skills folder. Claude Code picks it up the next time it starts.

To share it with everyone on one project, save it to .claude/skills/showfirst-prospecting/SKILL.md inside the project instead. Optionally connect the MCP server too:

Cursor

Save the file as a project rule:

Save the file in your project and point the agent at it, for example from AGENTS.md:

Try it

Ask your agent something like:

The agent looks up the place, tells you how many lead credits the search will hold, and starts once you say yes. Then it waits for the search to finish and saves the file.
